With the narrow victory margin in the Oxon final, many Horspath supporters were left to reflect on an incident in the Aston Rowant innings which saw the victors awarded five runs.
Chris Eaton scampered through for a single in the 15th over bowled by Andy Cummings only for a shy at the stumps from a fielder to hit his bat as he got in.
The ball flew off to the boundary and a further four runs were correctly awarded.
Surely common sense should dictate that if a side gain an unfair advantage in such a way – albeit by accident as this was – the ball should be deemed to be dead rather than alive when it strikes the batsman.
But then cricket has many bizarre laws and rules – as the Oxford Downs saga in this very competition has already highlighted.
