Former Oxfordshire batsman and St Edward’s School coach Brian Edrich has died, aged 86.
One of a famous cricketing family, he and his three brothers all played at least to first-class level, Edrich previously appeared for Kent and Glamorgan.
He took up the coaching post at St Edward’s in 1964 and remained there until his retirement more than 20 years later.
Edrich played for Oxon between 1966 and 71, scoring 1270 runs, including three centuries.
He also coached Oxfordshire’s youth teams for several years.
Oxfordshire archivist Julian Lawton Smith said: “His coaching style was always very positive and he gave great encouragement to those he tutored.
“A warm hearted and popular figure, he will be missed by those who knew him.”
