Julian Simon replaced Oxfordshire’s Bradley Smith at the top of the 125cc world championship standings after an unforgettable Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona.
Smith was eighth, but Simon came fourth after throwing away victory after blunder with one lap left.
He lost count and celebrated crossing the line with one lap still to go.
He was promptly passed by other riders and finished fourth.
Italy's Andrea Iannone won the race, ahead of Nico Terol and Sergio Gadea in third.
