Paul Tew was Oxfordshire’s hero as they claimed a five-wicket win over Staffordshire in the ECB 50-Plus County Championship at Little Stoke.
Chasing Staffordshire’s total of 190-6, the reigning champions were in big trouble at 9-3.
But opener Tew held firm to make 93, and with good support from Phil Densham (44), he turned the innings round, before Malcolm Evans finished the job off with an unbeaten 28 as Oxon secured victory with ten balls to spare.
Tew, who batted for two hours and 26 minutes, hit ten fours and a six.
Earlier, Densham had produced a tidy spell with the ball, taking 2-28 after Oxon had won the toss and put the hosts in, while Rob Willis chipped in with 2-26.
Oxon bid to make it three wins out of four when they take on Herefordshire at Eastnor on Wednesday (2pm).
