MCCA Trophy
Oxfordshire captain Ian Hawtin is backing his bowling resources to do the damage in Sunday’s quarter-final clash againt Wiltshire at Corsham (11).
Although Wiltshire may include former England seamer Andy Caddick, and Oxon are missing first-choice spinners Paul McMahon and Luke Ryan, but Hawtin is unphased.
He said: “We still have lots of bowling options.
“As well as the front-line bowlers, Richard Kaufman, Damian Shirazi and Craig Haupt can all contribute.
“We know a little bit about the wicket there and that’s why we have gone for this side.
“Wiltshire are a decent one-day side and it will be a tough game.”
Keith Arnold makes his first Trophy appearance after impressing on his return to the side in their Championship defeat to Dorset.
Oxford seamers Stuart Hole and Richard Gilbert are also back in the side alongside clubmate and all-rounder David Smith.
Shirazi and Kaufman, who are likely to open the batting, complete the returnees who were absent against Dorset.
Caddick, who took more than 200 Test wickets in as distinguished career, played for Wiltshire in their drawn Championship match against Wales MC, capturing five wickets in two innings.
Yesterday he played for Somerset 2nd against Minor Counties at North Perrott, and his availability for Sunday was due to be determined after that.
Caddick told Somerset’s website: "The ball came out pretty well for me so it was a good exercise for me to play for Wiltshire.
“I am pretty happy with way that things are going and my fitness is good.
“I bowled a 15-over spell on the last day and it was still coming out alright."
