Wallingford RC’s women’s crews are in tip-top form as they prepare for the Henley Women’s Regatta next week and the Royal Regatta a fortnight later.
Following a gold medal performance in the Belgian Championships in Ghent last month, Wallingford’s women’s eight enjoyed more success at the Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney.
The crew won the intermediate one eights against a clutch of London clubs on the Saturday, putting in a solid performance and coping well with tricky conditions in a stiff headwind.
The win meant that the crew moved to the Elite Eights for the Sunday racing.
And they won again, producing a disciplined and committed row for their coach Mick Brind, who also watched his women produce strong showings in the double and quad sculls.
This coming weekend sees the staging of the two-day Reading Regatta, where Wallingford will be well represented.
