AMY Busby took the girls’ athlete-of-the-match award as Oxford City won their Wessex League contest by a massive 121 points at Horspath.
City’s youngsters amassed 551.5 points and finish well clear of nearest rivals Camberley to move into joint-second in the league.
Busby started the day in the long jump and she improved her personal best by 10cm to 4.43m.
She followed this up by clocking 27.8 secs in the 200m, another personal best.
Busby settled for second in the 100m in 13.9, but she rounded off her day, bringing the under 13 girls’ relay team home in first place.
In the 1200m, Beth Mulvany and Emily Avery-Vlachakis took A and B string victories with personal bests of 4.29.2 and 4.44.9 respectively.
This was followed in the 800m with Elisha Evans (2.41.7) and Olivia Johnson (2.47.7), who both finished first.
Athlete-of-the-match for the boys’ team went to under 13 newcomer Chinedum Echeta, who won his 100m in a grade four time of 13.8 and 200m in a grade 3 time of 28.2.
The under 17s led the way, comfortably winning their age group with A and B string victories in the 100m from Nathan Rockett (12.0) and Marcus Woodington (12.1).
James Cody (2.07.4) and Tristan Smith (2.24.3) won the A and B string 800m, while there were also victories for Marcus Woodington and Ryan Meredith in the A and B string 100m hurdles.
In the field, Andrew Busby won the A string high jump with 1.60m, while newcomer Billy Barrclough threw 26.44m to win the B string javelin.
The 4x100m relay team capped a good day with victory in 49.3.
Wins were harder to come by for the under 15s, but they still managed joint-first place.
- OXFORD City had to settle for second place in the under 11 ‘Quadkids’ competition.
Adam Smith was the top boy on the day with 239 points.
He clocked 11.3secs in the 75m, leapt 3.62m in the long jump, recorded 2mins exactly in the 600m and 27.80m in the vortex throw.
Alice Byles led the way for the girls, finishing fifth with 183 points.
- BICESTER’S James Wright continued his fine form as he competed for Oxfordshire against Oxford University at Iffley Road.
Wright leapt an excellent 6.30m for second place in the long jump, but it was in the triple jump where he excelled.
He sailed out to 14.08m for a superb victory. Although just short of his personal best, Wright was the only athlete to exceed 13 metres.
