PATRICK Lay, from Bampton, opened up a 14-point lead in the Easykart UK Championships after a successful third round at the Clay Pigeon Kart Club in Dorset.
The racing was very close, with only three tenths of a second separating the top 12 qualifiers.
Lay achieved pole position, and he held the lead until a mistake on lap five.
He recovered his composure to finish second to consolidate his position at the top of the drivers’ standings.
The next race is in Teeside on July 14.
