Andy Benwell was celebrating after clinching the title with victory in the last Predator Spring League match of the year.

Fished by 18 on a hot and in-form Lower Court Farm, Benwell (Predator) put 186.12.00 of carp on the scales which he caught on caster fished long and up in the water.

Matt Ryman (Predator) just missed out after weighing in 183.12.00, Matt also fished long, but alternated between maggot and pellet.

Switching between long and the margins, Dave Clarke (Predator) finished third with 139.12.00, fishing pellet and punched meat.

There were two more weights over the ton and the deeper water produced the goods.

  • Eleven anglers fished the latest Masons match on Campbell’s Match lake at Milton Pools Fishery.

Chris Webb, fishing pellet shallow at 11 metres, was unlucky not to break the magical ton by just five ounces, weighed in at 99.11.00.

Matt Wyman finished second with 88.14.00, alternating between pellet and paste at 11 metres and close in.

Fishing close in, Alan Smith used maggot and pellet to take third place, weighing in 34.00.00.

Carp League 2009 were over at Boddington for their latest match, the 18 matchman struggled as with the sun shining the carp had other things on their mind like spawning.

With eight carp in the net Matt Ryman (Predator) wei-ghed in 70.04.00, landing two on the method and pellet and the others on the pellet waggler.

In second place, with five carp taken on the pellet wag was Liam Bough, weighing in 38.14.00.

Third with 32.10.00 was Andy Benwell (Predator), netting four carp on the pellet wag.

The gorgeous weather last Sunday brought the boats out on the canal at Frenchay Road which was the venue for the North Oxford club match fished by 13 members.

Alan Middleton started off on the punch, but when his swim died he switched to groundbait and pinkie, weighing in a winning 03.11.00 of small roach and skimmers.

Feeding liquidised bread and using punch. Ian Fisher also caught small roach and skimmers worth a second place 03.08.08.

Only just missing out on second place, Mick Abbott settled for a third place 03.08.00. Mick used groundbait and large red maggot to catch roach and skimmers.

  • Fat Phil’s is having an Open Day on June 13, starting at 10am, there will be representatives from Preston, Korum and Sonubaits plus guests.

There will be tackle displays and demonstrations given where you can have a go.
