Jack Tomes took three wickets for just one run as Buscot Park recorded an unlikely victory over Didcot in the second round of the Ron Maudsley Trophy.

After being restricted to 6-3 after three overs, Park’s prospects looked bleak.

But Rob O’Kelly (31no) helped them post 103-7, before Didcot were shot out for 61 in reply, Tomes leading the way.

Henry Crowther returned sensational figures of 5-5 as Minster Lovell dismissed Sandford St. Martin for 48.

Minster needed just 12 overs to reach the target.

Great & Little Tew clocked up an emphatic 73-run win over Hook Norton.

Chris Hickman, Lewis Brock and Jack Haggett each contributed 25 in Tew’s total of 119-2 before Hooky were held to 46-6 in reply.

Reigning champions Aston Rowant are safely through after bowling out Minster Lovell B for 40, Tom Holme-Smith returning 3-8, and then knocking off the runs for the loss of four wickets.

Combe were blown away at Shrivenham where Harry Fox-Edwards and Christian Hollingworth took four wickets apiece to bowl them out for just 27.

Shrivenham reached the target without loss in the tenth over.

In the League, a hat-trick from Hook Norton’s Juliet Gardner could not prevent her side from slipping to defeat at the hands of Bicester & North Oxford, for whom Harrison Cassidy took 4-8.

  • NEW entrants Westbury clocked up a narrow victory in their first game in the Under 11 Competition with a win over Oxford & Bletchington Nondescripts.

An unbeaten 26 by Findlay Smart led them to 39-1 off their 16 overs, Nondies falling just one run short in reply, ending on an agonising 38-5.

A high-scoring game at Challow saw visitors Thame rattle up 90-2, Oli Sutcliffe top-scoring with 28 not out.

James Wiltshire hit 27 not out in reply, but Challow fell just short on 79-2.

Charlbury were also among the runs, an unbeaten 26 from Adam Mayho leading them to 89-2 against Minster Lovell.

A fine spell of 3-4 from Felix Barras then helped restrict Minster to 53-7.

Freeland’s Robin Coburn returned figures of 3-5 as Shipton were held to 46-8, chasing the hosts’ total of 65-8.
