THE great eight time unbeaten run by Firelikeafox is over, despite a gallant late run that saw her finish second to Farloe Ellie whom she beat the week before to set up her record run.
The Gilly Hepden-trained bitch was slowly away and back in last place at the sectional, with leading contenders Deposit Box and Farloe Ellie fighting it out in front.
Despite the deafening noise from the crowd, urging her to victory, the nine-timer proved to be just one step too far.
Come the final bend, Deposit looked to have it in the bag, but then came Ellie to storm ahead with Foxy rallying as she dug her paws in to finish runner-up and not lose anything in defeat.
However, she has the perfect opportunity to get revenge for her defeat tonight when she takes on Ellie and Deposit Box in the S1 tonight and will be looking for revenge.
She will be the star of the show again at Thursday's Oxford Owners Association meeting where she is in line to receive an outstanding performance award.
