A Wallingford crew made history as Oxford-shire clubs and schools captured 23 sets of medals, including four Championship golds, at Nottingham Wallingford’s Simon Steele and Ertan Hazine, coached by Ben Townsend, became the first crew to win both the championship double sculls and coxless pairs events at the National Schools for more than 20 years.

In other events, Walling-ford’s boys continued their successful run with a bronze medal in the junior 16 coxed fours.

City of Oxford followed their junior successes at Ghent Regatta in Belgium with three more medals.

Hollie Holden (pictured) took gold in the under 17 girls single scullsbeating her nearest rival by nine seconds over the 2,000m course.

This is the first gold medal ever won by a City rower at the top annual event for junior rowers.

A silver medal for City was won by Sholto Carnegie and Ben Seers in the boys' under 14 double sculls event.

Inspired by her younger brother's success, Cloudy Carnegie joined with partner Siân Morgan to also take silver in the under 16 girls' double sculls event, while silvers came in the double sculls for the under 16 girls and the under 14 boys.

Hinksey Sculling School achieved a bronze medal through their junior 15 coxed four of Ollie Barratt, Freddie Myatt, Tim Swan, Dan Bowen and Alice Foreman (cox), It was only the second time that they had competed withsweep oars.

The girls of Headington School won the prestigious championship eights from their perennial rivals Lady Eleanor Holles, as well as the coxless pairs.

Headington also took gold in the junior 14 octuples, and three silvers achie-ved in the junior 16 eights, the junior 15 fours and the junior 14 doubles.

Radley College achieved four sets of medals, like Headington, with a gold for their junior 15 second eight, silvers for their under 14s, plus a bronze for their third eight.

Abingdon School achieved a silver in the Championship boys’ eights behind favourites Eton in a final, which also included Radley and St Edward’s in fourth and fifth places.

Abingdon followed with three more bronze medals, one in the Championship coxless fours.
