Oxfordshire Ladies experienced the highs and lows of cricket in their back-to-back home matches in the ECB County Championship over the weekend.
On Saturday at Stratfield Brake, Kidlington, Oxfordshire could not respond to the experience and accuracy of the Netherlands’ bowling attack as they were shot out for just 33 runs.
At one point, Oxon were 5-4, although they did manage to bat for 30 overs with Fi Morris facing 66 deliveries for her unbeaten seven.
The Netherlands opening batsmen then completed a ten-wicket in the eighth over.
The tables were well and truly turned 24 hours later as Oxfordshire welcomed Wiltshire to Abingdon Vale.
Winning the toss, Oxon had no hesitation in batting first and Heather Lang and Lucy Marsh put on 92 for the first wicket.
Ellie Porter came in and continued where Marsh had left off as she dominated the Wiltshire bowling.
Lang reached her maiden county half century off 115 balls, while Porter also passed 50, in only 40 deliveries.
The runs continued to flow as Porter reached a fantastic century.
The unbroken stand of 187 saw Oxon to 279-1 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Wiltshire were always up against it, with early wickets from Elspeth Walker and Nicola Scull.
Oxfordshire’s three spinners tied Wiltshire down, with Porter ripping through the middle order, taking 4-17 from ten overs of leg-spin.
The visitors batted through their overs, but closed on 107-8, giving Oxon a resounding 172-run victory.
