Opening bowler Anthony Bullick returned superb figures of 5-22 off 16 overs as Banbury secured their second successive Division 1 victory of the season with a 75-run success at home to Potters Bar on Saturday.

The visitors had no answer to Bullick, who bowled ten maidens in his spell, and ripped through the top order as Banbury’s total of 219-9 proved sufficient.

Put in to bat, Banbury lost Ian Tew for eight before Craig Haupt was bowled for 13 to leave them wobbling at 49-2.

Damian Shirazi and Simon Hole then steadied the ship with a 76-run third-wicket partnership as Banbury took control.

Opening batsman Shirazi reached his half-century, but was soon dismissed, trapped leg before by Will van der Maat for 56.

Bullick must have thought it wasn’t going to be his day went he was out lbw for a duck, and when three wickets fell with just one run being added, Potters Bar were on top.

However, Ian Hawtin (35) and Luke Ryan (21) chipped in with important knocks as Banbury’s innings drew to a close at 219-9.

In reply, Bullick ripped through the Potters Bar top-order, leaving the visitors reeling on 43-4.

Although Chris Swainland steadied the ship, Luke Ryan had him stumped for 25, and without further score, Jimmy Phillips dismissed Shaftab Ali lbw for 22.

Ryan then removed David Breeze and Adam Norman, before Bullick completed his excellent display when Ian Tew caught Chris Lagana off his bowling to complete his five-wicket haul.

Ryan then bowled van der Maat to finish with 4-45 off his 10.1 overs as Potters Bar were bowled out for 144.
