Foxy's on fire!
The Gilly Hepden-trained black bitch, Firelikeafox, racked up her eighth straight graded victory with a gutsy display to peg back Farloe Ellie in the top grade event over 595 metres last Saturday.
Owned by the Hall family, it is believed to have been a record-breaking victory for a grader, because normally the racing office are reluctant to let any hound dictate the way she has the last few weeks.
However, she has taken anything the stewards have thrown at her – and she has not started favourite in any of those eight victories!
In the race last Saturday, Foxy was in front at the final bend, but Farloe Ellie went by, and only sheer determination saw the bitch come back for a dramatic photo-finish.
It looked as though the run had come to an end, but the camera proved otherwise.
She goes for an unprecedented nine-timer tonight as she takes on a good class line-up, including Michael Peterson's recent open race winner Dep-osit Box in an S1 over 595 metres.
It's a difficult task, but if she prevails, hang on to your hat! Deposit Box still lands the nap.
