Oxfordshire Under 14s stormed to a 7-2 win over Hampshire in the Reed Trophy at Wantage Town – but it was only good enough to see them finish runners-up.

The success kept their hopes alive of lifting the title, but they were dashed when Berkshire beat Dorset 3-0 to be crowned champions.

Man-of-the-match Chris Da Silva fired Oxon into the lead against Hampshire with a breakway goal, and Shepherd Murambedzi double their lead with a superb solo effort.

Hampshire pulled a goal back, before captain Jake Johns’ 25-yard strike restored Oxon’s two-goal cushion.

The visitors struck again before the interval, but Oxon dominated the second half.

Mhenald Remalano (2) made it 5-2, before Roland Hassani (2) completed the rout.
