Oxford United have denied they have made a £150,000 bid for Peterborough striker Scott Rendell.
Rumours have been circulating that United have put in a six-figure offer for the 22-year-old forward, who has been on loan at Cambridge United.
But United chairman Kelvin Thomas said they were untrue.
“I know people are saying we have bid £150,000 for Scott Rendell, but we haven't,” he said. “We are not in that kind of ball park.
“Scott is a player that Chris (Wilder) and I have talked about, and we have put in a call to Peterborough, but that sort of money is too rich for us.
“We were maybe looking for a potential loan, but that was early on.”
