Oxfordshire coach Gareth Rees had mixed feelings after seeing his side progress.

He said: “We are disappointed that we didn’t go through with a win.

“When we put our game plan together we certainly looked good enough to open them up and score tries. Unfortunately we lost our structure a little bit.”

Both sides were frusrtrated by some of young referee Craig Maxwell-Keys’s decisions.

Rees said: “The breakdown was an area of real concern. As a consequence we didn’t have the quality of ball we needed to allow our running game to be effective.

“I feel sorry for the guys. After a long, hard season, circumstances beyond their control have not allowed them to enjoy the nature of game they deserved.

“The guys are disappointed, but hopefully they will be able to show their true potential next week.”
