Firelikeafox continued her amazing run when claiming her seventh successive victory at Oxford Stadium.
The Gilly Hepden-trained bitch has now won ten of her 16 races at Cowley, and has proved a real bargain for her owners Mr & Mrs John Hall.
Gilly Hepden had Foxy from the Ian Wills kennel in October and said: “She really is a happy bitch and smiles at everyone.
“She is undoubtedly the star of the kennel at the moment.”
Foxy is now in line for a 'Special Achievement' award from the Oxford Owners Association.
She attempts an eight-timer tonight when she goes from the red jacket in the Marcus Litting Last Night of Freedom Stakes, an S1 over 645m.
l THE Richard Yeates-trained powerful stayer Lazerus has made it through to the Blue Square Greyhound Derby proper and lines up in the red jacket in heat three.
Meanwhile, there was more open races success for Oxford trainers when Michael Peterson took his promising stayer Deposit Box to Hove and came away with the spoils, while Paddy Curtin's Farloe Ellie came out on top in a 630m event at Monmore.
Tony Magnasco produced the consistent Swift Stirling at top pitch to win at Coventry on Sunday over 625m.
And watch out for another one from Magnasco’s Great Milton range after he acquired Australian-bred Speed Shiraz, unusually from Germany where the dog broke two track records and won the European Sprint championship final.
The dog appears to be a good traveller having also raced in Hungary, and Oxford didn't hold any fears either as he posted a good 27.29secs in his trial.
l PADDOCK steward Fred Saxton, one of Oxford's most loyal servants, is to retire next month.
Fred, father of former clerk of the course Paul, has served the track brilliantly for the past 20 years and will be assured of a good send-off.
l TRAINERS are reminded that they can apply for up to 50 per cent funding to towards the purchase of air conditioning in their vans that transport greyhounds to and from the track.
They can also apply for grants for new travel cages, and up to £5,000 to help fund kennel improvements that will benefit the greyhounds in their care – all courtesy of the Greyhound Board of Great Britain.
l ALTHOUGH track supremo John Haynes gave the Oxford track the all-clear recently, he did say that a new hare rail is required.
