Alex Davies claimed four wickets as Oxfordshire Under 12s kicked off their season with a winning draw against Summerfields School.

Summerfields fielded sup-erbly during Oxfordshire’s innings, picking up four run outs.

But Oxon’s total of 159-7 was built around a fine knock by Barney Wilkinson, who sco-red a well-compiled 30.

Callum Russell was also on form, before being run out for 40, while captain Nick Lancaster chipped in with 31.

Summerfields began their innings in positive fashion, scoring at more than four runs an over in the early stages.

But James Bower put the skids on the school side with four maidens in a row, which built the pressure.

When Davies came on, the game changed, and Summerfields were left clinging on for a draw.
