Peter Alliss added a touch of commentary as he officially opened Hadden Hill’s new par-three course.
The TV commentator and former Ryder Cup player offered some impromptu analysis on the swings of four of the club’s captains when they teed off.
And he gave his backing to the £250,000 nine-hole development, which was part-funded by Sport England.
Before watching skippers Roy Thorpe (seniors), Callum Tailford (juniors), Margaret Vallance (ladies) and John Robinson (deputy) play their shots, Alliss said: “It is nice to see developments like this.
“There are so many things to learn in golf. That is what puts a lot of people off.
“Many people think golf is an expensive game, but so is fishing, so is cycling.
“We need young people and older people to have a go and enjoy the game.
“This is what a course like this will encourage.”
Course designer Michael Morley said: “A real big thank-you for all our staff, particularly our head green-keeper Michael Woods and his team of five who have worked so hard on this course.”
North Oxford’s Lee Jackson has won the BB&O Professionals Championship for the second year running.
Jackson clinched the title after defeating Henley’s Joe Templer in a play-off at Ellesborough.
Rounds of 71 and 73 gave Jackson a level-par total of 144 before he pipped Templer at the second extra hole.
