Former South African star Gary Kirsten will captain a Tiddington XI in a charity Twenty20 match against Oxford University.
Kirsten, who is now the Indian coach, will spend Bank Holiday Monday, May 25 at Tiddington’s ground near Thame, raising funds for the Thembisa Trust.
The 41-year-old played 101 Tests for South Africa with his top score of 275 coming against England.
Kirsten will hold coaching masterclasses before taking to the field, while the day will also feature a barbecue, food stalls, a pub, ice creams and a raffle sporting some cricketing memorabilia.
The more serious stuff begins for him next month when he coaches India in the ICC World Twenty20.
Kirsten has chosen the Alexandria Orphanage in South Africa as this year’s beneficiary of the Thembisa Trust.
The target is £10,000 to build accommodation and provide a sports field for the orphans.
Kirsten will also speak at a fundraising dinner at the Oxford Belfry Hotel, Milton Common, on Saturday, May 23 where two places in the Tiddington XI will be up for auction.
The Twenty20 match is free, but there will be a collection during the afternoon.

Cairns Fudge will now be featured in the Club Life series on Sky Sports 1 at 1pm during tomorrow’s lunch interval in the second Test at Durham.
The Oxford-based club are one of three sides profiled in the show, which was postponed from last Saturday when the first Test finished early.
