Sam Costley’s half-century proved in vain for Henry Box as they slipped to an eight-run defeat against Witney rivals Cokethorpe in the Bunbury Under 12 Cup.

Costley made 59 of Henry Box’s 113-4 after Cokethorpe had posted 121-5 with Williams Parsons (41) and George Murrin (37) leading the way as Max Davidson took 3-17.

Callum Rusell hit an unbeaten 50 to set Abingdon School up for a 64-run victory over St Birinus (Didcot), who were shot out for 40.

In the Lord’s Taverners Under 14 Trophy, Abingdon booked their place in the last eight with a three-wicket win over Oratory (Woodcote).

Harry Shortis (53no) and Matthew Kitchen (45) steered Abingdon home at 160-7 after Oratory had made 158-6.

In the Oxfordshire Under 13 Cup, Jack Timms hit an unbeaten 49 to take Cooper (Bicester) to a 40-run victory over local rivals Bicester.
