Oxford City’s Ladies A team enjoyed a successful week with victories in the Wilson OLTA League and the National Club League.
They beat Witney A 4-0 in the Ladies Pink Division with first pair Jo Love and Barbara Gibbins enjoying straight-set wins.
Second pair Katja Hart-wich and Louisa Kent also won both their rubbers, but needed three sets to see off Witney’s first pair.
The Wilson OLTA League has been revamped this year. Teams finishing first and second in the coloured divisions form Division 1 in 2010, teams finishing third and fourth form Division 2 and so on – there’s plenty to play for.
City’s success in the National Club League came when they beat Thame 3-0.
They have won their first two matches in the competition’s county play-offs.
Both Love and Louisa Kent won their singles 6-3, 6-1 against Mandy Howkins and Dawn Munroe. Then the City duo won the doubles 6-4, 6-1.
l OXON boys won the Aegon 14 & Under Inter-County Cup.
Victories over North of Scotland, Cambridgeshire and Herts secured promotion to Division 3A.
l THAME moved top of the Aegon Team Tennis Oxfordshire League with a 3-0 win over North Oxford.
Maria Lawton and Jo Kelly won their singles, before teaming up to beat Emma Tolson and Hannah Booth 6-2, 6-2 in doubles.
