Oxford United boss Chris Wilder has emerged as a leading candidate to take over at Blue Square champions Burton Albion, after bookies Victor Chandler slashed his odds from 14-1 to 3-1.
“We knew that there were whispers about Wilder and Burton, but we thought it would be difficult to see him leaving Oxford United,” said VC spokesman Neal Wilkins.
“However, his latest comments about the league were hardly complimentary and Burton could be his ticket into the Football League a little earlier than he expected. The money we have taken on him is certainly significant.”
The firm make Wilder joint favourite to take over, along with Steve Staunton.
