Punchbowl Pirates defeated Railway Wheatley 6-1 in a one-sided Alan Alder Invitation Trophy final at Northcourt Road that was marred by a serious injury to Pirates’ Paul Moran.
Moran was taken to hospital with cruciate ligament damage after a collision with Wheatley keeper Phil Lowe in the second half.
Pirates defender Luke McIntosh fired his side into a two goal lead, before Andy Kirtland pulled one back.
McIntosh was fouled in the box and converted the spot kick himself to complete his first-half hat-trick.
Right on half-time, man-of-the-match Liam Barson placed a lob over Lowe.
In the second half, Lowe saved a penalty after he bought down Shaun Gilsenun and was booked.
Minutes later, Lowe came rushing out and clattered into Moran for another caution and a red card.
Nick Rogers took over in goal, but he could not stop another Barson 25-yard blockbuster and a strike from sub Jon Cummings.
