A first-half penalty condemned Carterton to a 1-0 defeat by Almondsbury in the Hellenic League’s SBJ Insurance Brokers Cup final at Shrivenham on Monday.
Tom Perry was adjudged to have pushed Kris Davis in the 31st minute, and Kane Ingram stepped up to drill his spot-kick past James Domm in the Carterton goal.
Carterton could have fallen further behind before half-time when Domm upended Richard Kear, presenting Almondsbury with another penalty.
But Domm redeemed himself by kicking away Ingram’s spot-kick to keep Carterton in the game.
Michael Duerden and Danny King had chances to equalise in the second half, but it wasn’t to be.
BANBURY United twice came from behind to lift the Buckingham Charity Cup with a 4-2 win over Leighton Town in the final at Buckingham on Monday night.
George Redknap, with a 20-yard volley, Luke Bennett and a Troy Bryan brace made up Banbury’s tally.
