Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith recorded his first MotoGP success after storming to an impressive victory in the 125cc class in Jerez, Spain, yesterday.
The 18-year-old recorded a sensational 18-second success and leap up to second spot in the driver’s standings – just a point off the top.
Starting from second on the grid, Smith scorched away from the line to go in front, and never looked back.
With championship leader Andrea Iannone crashing out, before remounting to finish out of the points, Smith took full advantage.
“You sort of have an idea of what it would be like to win a Grand Prix, but it is nothing like that at all,” a beaming Smith said.
Smith, who lives in Forest Hill, was riding in his 50th Grand Prix.
