Oxford Community School pipped hosts Burford by four runs in a thrilling Oxfordshire Under 17 Cup final held over from last season.

The visitors got off to an explosive start, scoring 76 in their first ten overs with Shahbaz Alam hitting 37 until he was caught off a full-blooded drive by Ben Geeson-Brown.

Oxford then lost some momentum, but still posted a useful 123-6.

A second-wicket stand of 96 between Robert Knight (42) and Tom Geeson-Brown (39) looked to have put Burford on course for victory.

But Shahbaz caught Geeson Brown at extra cover and with Knight being run out, Burford, who needed 11 to win off the last over, ended on 119-5 leaving Oxford to collect their first trophy since 2000.

Amin Rafiq, who bowled the last over, produced a match-winning spell for Oxford taking 3-9 from his four overs.
