Samuel Miller was one of the youngest runners in Sunday’s marathon.
Miller, who was 18 on April 15, applied for a place in the race last year and received his reply in October with a ballot place.
This meant he did not need to raise sponsorship, but he did so anyway, making more than £1,000 for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and the Antony Nolan Trust.
Miller, who lives in Lew, near Witney, and runs for Radley, crossed the line in 3hrs 32mins.
Nigel Marley was the leading Oxfordshire finisher, crossing the line in 61st place.
Running for first-claim club Rugby & Northampton, the Alchester athlete clocked a personal best of 2.31.08.
- HEADINGTON schoolgirl Beth Swords made her debut in the London Mini Marathon, representing the South East of England, and finished third in the inter girls’ (13 and 14-year-olds) race.
Run over the last three miles of the course, the Mini Marathon is made up of teams from the across the United Kingdom, including the London Boroughs.
Swords covered the course in an excellet time of 17mins 18secs.
Oxford City’s Melissa Hawtin finished sixth in the 15-17 year-old age group, clocking 17.17.
Meanwhile, her sister, Beth, was 20th in the 11-12 category in 19.10.
