Former national schoolboy champion Barry Morris, from Yarnton, has died at the age of 70.
Mr Morris, who attended Henry Box Grammar School, Witney, won the 9st 2lb title as a 16-year-old in 1954, at the Royal Albert Hall, where he was presented with his trophy by field Marshal Bernard Montgomery.
The following year, he reached the final of the 9st 9lb class before being knocked out in the first round.
He did not continue his boxing career into adulthood.
Mr Morris, who ran his own company in the motor trade – he was Ford European salesman of the year in the 1970s – leaves a widow, Margaret, and five children.
