Dan Williams, aged 16, from Carterton, spent fivedays on an Oxfordshire pit and was rewarded with some cracking tench.
Targeting a shallow plateau 20 yards out from the bank, he fed the area with red maggot, hemp and pellets supplied by Kent Particles and then fished red maggot on a size 10 Korda wide gap hook.
During his week on the water, he landed 29 tench, the best going 8lb 2oz, the others included seven fish over 5lbs, five sixes and a seven.
His hook was tied to Drennan Double Strength and he also used the new Drennan in- line and running feeders.
Dan told me that the evenings were most productive as the water was warmest.
l DO you want to raise your concerns or your opinions on the state of the rivers in this area?
Well now you can by going to the website www.environmentagency.gov.uk/research/planning/33106.aspx which contains information on the ‘Water Framework Directive.’ The Environment Agency wants your concerns and opinions, as this directive is in the consultation stages which close on June 22.
When you enter this website you need to choose Thames Basin which includes the Thames, Cherwell, Evenlode, Windrush and Thame.
This is an opportunity for all of us to have a say and influence decisions that will affect our sport.
