Despite a brilliant dispay from Banbury’s Jack Smith, Oxfordshire under 17s had to settle for 24th place out of 40 in the inter-county tournament at Nottingham. Smith won seven of nine singles and eight of ten mixed ties, partnering Natalie Nag.
OXON RESULTS
Group 1: lost to Notts 9-1, bt Guernsey 6-4, lost to Middlesex 7-3.
Group 2: drew with Durham 5-5 (won by one game), bt Northants 6-4, bt Isle of Man 7-3, drew with Somerset 5-5 (won by three games).
Group 3: lost to Norfolk 6-4, lost to Leinster 6-4, lost to Bedfordshire 8-2.
Headington took the main honours in the Oxford & District League, winning three of the 12 divisional titles.
