Frilford Heath’s Jane Binning was crowned Oxfordshire ladies champion after edging out Bicester’s Laura Watkins in a tense final at Tadmarton Heath.
This was sweet revenge for Binning after Watkins had knocked her out of last year’s championships.
Binning led Watkins by three holes as they played the 16th, but Watkins hit back by taking the next two.
She could not make it three-in-a-row, however, as Binning held on.
Binning had earlier knocked out Judy McCairns (Oxford Ladies), Gemma Clements (Studley Wood) and 14-year-old Abi Laker (Burford) to reach the final.
Laker had herself defeated defending champion Sam Round (Cotswold Hills) in the quarter-finals.
Watkins saw off Kate Evans (Frilford), Welsh international Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton) and Studley Wood’s Lauren Jupp, at the first extra hole.
O’Connor was the best of 16 qualifiers after shooting a two-round total of 143.
Tilly Holder (Woburn) was second on countback from Round after both carded 146.
Clare Fox (Oxford Ladies) saw off Frilford’s Sue Russell in the final to win the Mid-Silver Championship, which was held for the first time.
The Oxfordshire Bronze Championship went to Jo Collings of Tadmarton, who defeated Ruth MacKay from Carswell.
