MARK Sykes of Banbury Cross was in dominating form at the Oxfordshire Indoor Bowling Association’s Championships, retaining two titles and capturing a third.
Sykes comfortably retained his singles crown, winning 21-7 against Malcolm Woodley from Oxford & District.
In the fours final, Sykes, Anthony Docerty, Nigel Galletly and Keith Holloway overcame Carterton’s Bob Turley, Bob Wright, Tim Jupp and Dicky Bull 23-12.
The pairs final was the closest contest, going to the final end before Sykes and partner Holloway clinched a 17-14 victory over Oxford & District’s Howard Watts and Chris Allen.
Watts and Allen had their revenge in the triples with Eddie Pilgrim, however, beating Sykes’s Banbury Cross trio 19-12.
Sykes’s success caps a memorable season on the indoor scene.
Back in February, he won three Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire area national finals.
He found it tough in the finals at Nottingham, however, and could progress no further than the second round in any of the three events.
