Oxford City secured an impressive four-timer in the Oxfordshire Road Relay Championships at Hook Norton.
City won the men’s, women’s boys’ and girls’ titles in a dominant day’s running.
The boys’ event (under 15) was the closest race, with City’s A team of Josh Tack, William Handscombe and Matthieu Marshall pipping Radley A by just six seconds in a time of 17mins 49secs.
Oxford’s girls’ trio of Lauren Hawtin, Imogen van Zyl and Imogen Kempton clocked 18.08 to win their race.
City’s B team of Storm Sunderland, Elisha Evans and Beth Hawtin were second in 19.21.
Despite fielding three vet 50 runners, Oxford City A beat Abingdon A, who were all aged under 40, by almost a minute in the men’s race.
‘Golden Oldies’ Brian Green, Trevor Dixon and Chris Sykes were joined by seniors Aaron Burgess, Markus Maxwell and John Roberston to win in 1.48.29.
Abingdon clocked a combined time of 1.49.28, with Paul Fernandez, on the final leg, recording the team’s quickest time of 17.34.
Completing the quartet, City’s A team of Milly Kempton, Jade Walker and Melissa Hawtin landed the women’s title in 1.10.45, more than two minutes ahead of Headington Roadrunners.
Headington, however, managed a double of their own in the veterans’ events.
Their men’s team of Laurie Hurman, Jim Thorn, Chris Prince, Andy Phelps, Alan Derbyshire and Crispin Hetherington were comfortable winners in 1.56.39.
The ladies’ race was incredibly tight as Headington A pipped Banbury Harriers A by two seconds thanks to a storming final leg from Jude Craft (18.46).
Joined by Sandra Wolanski and Adrienne Hopkins, Headington clocked 1.01.53 to Banbury’s 1.01.55.
