Didcot Casuals boosted their North Berks League Division 2 title hopes with a 6-1 victory against Marcham, writes Andy Wells.
Three goals in the opening 18 minutes from Liam Corr-igan, Lewis Monaghan and Neil Tonner left Marcham reeling.
Although Will Westall reduced the arrears from the penalty spot after Stuart Armstrong was brought down, strikes from John Pearce and keeper Joe Betteridge made it 5-1.
Pearce’s second goal then wrapped it up for Didcot as they moved to within two points of leaders Warbor-ough & Shillingford, who fought back to salvage a 1-1 draw against Saxton Rovers Res.
Craig O’Connor headed Saxton in front, only for Liam Barson to equalise after dribbling past four defenders.
Basement boys Sutton Courtenay were hammered 8-0 by Lambourn Sports Res whose scorers were Steve Crame (5), Stuart Denton (2) and Terry Woods.
In Division 1, Saxton Rovers moved 12 points clear of nearest challengers Faringdon Town with a 3-0 win at Crowmarsh Gifford, thanks to goals from Paul Churchouse (penalty), Tom Aldworth and Chris Hooper.
Substitute Richard Evans scored the winner for Faringdon Town as they beat Blewbury 1-0.
Lee Fuller hammered a hat-trick as Harwell Village kept their slim hopes of winning the title with a 5-2 win at Lambourn Sports.
Neil Smith and JR Willis were their other marksmen, with Matty Pedder and Adrian Mooney replying.
Ben Hibbins’s season is over after he suffered a badly-broken leg seven minutes into Drayton’s Division 3 clash against relegation-threatened Ardington Res.
Drayton won the game 3-1, with goals from Phil Empson, Jack Lester and Ian Oram.
Harwell International Res dented leaders Botley United’s title aspirations with a shock 4-2 victory.
A brace apiece from Jamie Clark and Johnny Eudell did the damage for Harwell, with Chris Potter (penalty) and Andy Tompkins hitting back for Botley.
Long Wittenham Athletic kept up their promotion hopes following a 5-1 victory against Coleshill United Res – their fourth win on the trot.
Danny Osborne (2), Tim Barton (2) and Steve Molloy found the net for Wittenham.
Matty Howe and Harry Heath were on target for Shrivenham A as they beat Grove Rangers Res 2-1. Marc Lewis replied.
Benson AFC Res boosted their Division 4 title aspirations with a 2-0 home win against Marcham Res, thanks to strikes from Kris Ray and Carl Fisher.
Jason Evans notched a double as Stanford in the Vale saw off Steventon Res 3-0.
Steven Holder got their other goal from long-range.
A hat-trick from Devan Bryan saw Uffington United Res guarantee themselves the runners-up spot in Division 5 with a 5-0 thumping of Benson Lions.
Dave Roberts and Ian Moore were also on the mark.
Coleshill United A won 4-2 against Stanford-in-the-Vale Res, with a brace from Luke Regan (2), a Kamal Miah strike and an own goal making up their tally.
Max Kelly, with his 16th goal of the season, and Jamie Gregory netted for Stanford.
Hanney United Res won 5-0 against Didcot Casuals A with goals from Andy Alder (2), Kenny Clements, Aaron Drew and Stuart Wright.
