THE Oxford Mail League’s Under 12 representative side avenged their 5-3 defeat by Bristol the last time they met, with a 2-1 win at the weekend.
Vicky Standen gave them the perfect start with a close-range effort on two minutes and, incredibly, they were two-up two minutes later when a long throw by Sophie Tatfor was not claimed by the Bristol keeper and Sophie Hunt pounced.
Standen then struck a post and the loose ball was scrambled clear.
From their next attack, Bristol reduced the deficit through Estelle, but they could not improve on that 41st-minute effort, with Oxford goalkeeper Megan Bennett brilliantly saving a point-blank header at a corner.
Tamica Greenaway slammed four goals as Didcot Casuals beat Chinnor Youth in the Under 12 League, with Georgia Blowfield (2) and Hollie Davey also on the scoresheet.
Christina Snowdon also hit a four-timer in Tower Hill Vixens’ 8-4 win at Carterton FC.
Hollie Merriman hit a hat-trick for Carterton, including one goal straight from a corner, but it was in vain as Jazzmin Alder, Jessica Lathey and Jade Keenan-Naf (2) added their names to Snowdon’s four.
Georgina Graham also netted for Carterton, who lacked the determination and commitment they have shown for the rest of the season.
A double from Rosie Herridge helped Carterton to a 5-0 victory at rivals Tower Hill Vixens in the Under 11 League.
Molly Bishop, Charlotte Grant and Natalie Webb also scored.
