Gosford All Blacks won 42-19 at Harwell to leave the home team bottom of the BB&O Premier Division and facing possible relegation.

That looks unlikely with Wheatley having already scratched, but Harwell’s fate will depend on restructuring in other leagues.

The visitors went ahead when fly half Harry Sutton charged down a clearance kick and ran over for an unconverted try, Tim Ellis putting them further ahead with a penalty.

Harwell’s heavier pack began to dominate and they reduced the arrears with a Carl Blewett try under the posts, which Dave Beaven converted.

After some heavy Gosford pressure, skipper Dan Hughes took a quick tap penalty and dived over for Ellis to convert and give his side a 15-7 half-time lead.

After that it was one-way traffic.

Gosford added further tries through Ben Bodinham, Alex Webb, Ed Ronan – after an 80metre interception run – Dave Brogan and Ellis, who added one conversion.

Some fine driving play by the forwards set up Harwell tries for Kev Wood and Ryan Hodnett, with Beaven converting once.

The match was preceded by a minute’s silence for former Harwell prop Jim Douglas, who died suddenly that morning.
