Malmesbury Vic 2 (Avenell 55, 87)

Letcombe 1 (Gifford 45)

A wonder goal from Lyle Gifford was still not enough to earn Letcombe the point they deserved as Malmesbury became the only team to do the double over them this season in Division 1 West.

Both sides had chances in an even first half, and a great run and cross from Lyle Gifford gave Simon Tabor a great chance at the far post in the third minute, but he failed to connect.

Tony Booker had a header from a corner cleared off the line, and at the other end, keeper Steve Vaux handled the ball confidently.

Letcombe took the lead early in the second half, when Richard Claydon seemed to overhit a corner, but Gifford took one touch and volleyed an unstoppable left foot shot into the far top corner from rthe edge of the penalty area.

Five minutes later, Letcombe presented Malmesbury with the equaliser. Tom Broad had time to clear the ball, but he got caught in possession, and Steve Avenell was left with the simplest of chances.

Letcombe looked the more likely side to score the winner, but three minutes from time Avenell hit the winner to leaving Letcombe to wondering what coule have been.

Bisley Sp 0

Launton Sports 1 (Blake 72)

Launton moved further away from the Division 1 East relegation zone with a hard-fought victory.

Early on, a precise through ball from Gareth Price saw home keeper Aaron Bufton sprint off his line to bravely foil Ray Long.

In the 12th minute Price had the ball in the Bisley net , but he had strayed marginally offside.

Five minutes before the break, Ryan Blake pulled the ball back to Darren Gascoyne who fired just wide.

In the second half, James Keeble hit a Bisley upright from a impossible angle.

And they kept up the pressure, with Blake netting the winner after a storming run.

Launton felt they should have had a penalty when Ray Long was brought down, but the referee waved away their appeals.
