Nathan Harrison secured victory in round one of the S1 British Championships at Whilton Mill, near Daventry.
The 12-year-old from Botley, who has been testing all winter with his team Velocity Motorsport, qualified in seventh place with only two tenths of a second separating the top ten.
Harrison raised his game in the heats to start second on the grid for the first point-scoring final.
Getting a solid start, Harrison found himself leading a small breakaway group by the halfway stage.
Showing impressive maturity, he gave up the lead after a being out-towed into a fast corner, but bided his time.
A small mistake by the race leader, and a stunning move on the last corner of the last lap saw Harrison regain first place in the short dash to the flag.
Starting from pole in the grand final, Harrison, who is sponsored by Botley Windscreens, was confident of a repeat performance.
With the four front runners constantly swapping positions over the first half of the 20 lap final, Harrison made his decisive move on lap 12.
He took taking full advantage of another mistake and gave himself a small gap for some breathing space.
An accident on lap 17 brought the race to a premature finish with Harrison being declared the winner.
Oxfordshire's Patrick Lay aims to build on his opening-race victory when the Junior Easykart UK Championship resumes at Llandow, Wales, next Saturday.
Lay, 14, won the junior category at Whilton Mill last month.
