U's skipper Adam Murray says it’s a great achievement by the team that no-one will do the double over them this season.

They ended that possibility when James Constable’s late winner saw off Wrexham, the Red Dragons having beaten them 2-0 at the Racecourse at the start of the campaign.

United have already beaten both Burton and Northwich, their final two opponents, 2-1.

Murray said: “There was pride at stake against Wrexham because they were the only side who could have done the double over us. It’s nice to go through the whole season with that record intact.”

It’s a record that play-off chasing rivals Kidderminster and Stevenage can’t match.

Kiddy have seen both Barrow and Cambridge do the double over them. Stevenage have seen Eastbourne and Wrexham do the double over them.

l MANSFIELD players have been warned by Dean Holdsworth they have three matches to earn a future, after the 2-0 defeat at Northwich.

This could be relevant to United, because Mansfield host Stevenage on the final day and the U’s may be praying that Stags’ Rob Duffy does his old club a favour.

Holdsworth said: “The players are making my job very easy – I won’t give anyone a contract.

“Either they’ll lie down and move on, or they’ll roll their sleeves up and show the right response.”

l KELVIN Thomas was kicking himself after turning down a ticket for Chelsea v Liverpool on Tuesday. It turned out to be a classic.
