Glamorgan will be led by former Dark Blue captain Jamie Dalrymple when they face Oxford UCCE in The Parks tomorrow.

They also include Australian opener Mark Cosgrove, who is back after a two-year break, for the three-day game.

He will open the batting with fellow left-hander Gareth Rees, who was Glamorgan’s leading scorer in first-class cricket last summer.

Glamorgan include former England Test off-spinner Robert Croft, along with seamer Alex Wharf, who like Dalrymple played one-day internationals for England.

Michael Powell, who has recovered from the slight leg strain he sustained during Glamorgan’s pre-season victory over Hampshire, also plays alongside talented young batsmen Ben Wright and Tom Maynard.

For the students, opening batsman/wicket-keeper Chris Swainland, who has played for Essex 2nd, batsman Mark Lewis, who has made a number of appearances for Warwickshire 2nd, and David Smith, the former Kent Academy all-rounder who has joined Oxford CC, come in to make their first-class debuts.

Swainland takes over from Richard Coughtrie, while Cumnor’s Morteza Ali and Banbury Twenty paceman Faisal Khalid, who has sore shins, drop out from the side which had a rain-affected draw against Warwickshire over the Easter weekend.

Oxford UCCE: C Swainland, J Martin, R Sharma, R Lett (capt), D Bradshaw, M Lewis, E Young, M Watson, L Ryan, M Milligan, D Smith.

Glamorgan: M Cosgrove, G Rees, B Wright, M Powell, J Dalrymple (capt), T Maynard, M Wallace, R Croft, D Harrison, A Wharf, J Harris, A Shantry.
