Harwell International's stunning battle agai-nst relegation from Division 1 continued with a 1-0 victory over Lambourn Sports, writes Andy Wells.
A goal from Joe Lyddon secured Harwell's fourth successive victory, which takes them out of the drop zone Just down the road, Har-well Village are staking a late claim for a top-three place as they won 3-1 at home to Crowmarsh Gifford.
After a goalless first half, John Willis, Matty Aplin and Lee Fuller found the net for Harwell, with Tommy O’Dris-coll replying.
Warborough & Shillingford extended their lead at the top of Division 2 with a battling 2-1 win at Faringdon Town Res.
Tom Davies scored after five minutes for the leaders before Mike Marsh equalised. However, with five minutes remaining Ross Tabor netted his 14th goal of the season.
Drayton Res kept their Division 3 promotion challenge alive with a 2-1 win against Benson Lions, thanks to goals from Jack Lester and Carl Bolton.
Division 4 champions Hanney United were presented with the trophy before the game against Steventon Res and celebrated in style with a 6-1 win.
James Bishop took his tally to 27 for the season with a brace, Danny Sayer (2), Joe Ledbury and Nick Clinch got the other Hanney goals, while Sean Follows grabbed Steventon’s consolation.
Hagbourne United slip-ped to last place after a 2-1 defeat at Challow United, for whom Eamon McGowan and Gareth Eltham scored.
Kevin Edwards (2), Devon Bryan (2), Robert Rigley (2) and Ian Moore were on target as Uffington United Res claimed the runners-up spot in Division 5 with a sensational 7-0 home win against Hag-bourne United Res.
