A two-goal burst in the opening 24 minutes from Stuart Hole and Liam Hope secured North Leigh victory over their Oxfordshire rivals at Eynsham Park and move them to eighth in BGB Southern League Division 1 South & West.

The start was delayed for 15 minutes to await the arrival of the referee, Paul Upton who was delayed after his car broke down.

When it did get under way, North Leigh were quickly in the driving seat.

Firstly, Andrew Helby's 20-yard free-kick hit a post, before Hole struck the inside of an upright with Abingdon keeper Sam Warrell at full stretch.

The home pressure finally told when centre back Hole glanced home Simon Futcher’s corner past Warrell.

Seconds later, Owen Collins fired wide from the edge of the box.

North Leigh doubled their lead when Dan Sadler cut the ball back for Hope to curl his shot into the top corner of the net.

Seconds later, Lee Farrow then tipped Odhiambo's short range effort round the post.

Abingdon enjoyed more possession after the break, but Huxley and Dodds were solid performers at the heart of North Leigh’s rearguard.

Farrow was almost embarrassed by Odhiambo, but then redeemed himself by blocking Luke Holden's run.

Ben Reardon and Hope were always a threat on the counter-attack for the home side, while Holden twice shot narrowly wide when well placed, which summed up Abingdon's day as North Leigh kept a clean sheet and secure a well-earned derby victory.
