Beehive AC kicked off their new season with a bumper turn-out of 22 at Lower Court Farm for the Beehive Cup first leg and the Charity Shield.
Although an early frost made for a slow start, once the sun came up the fishing got better.
Bob Alder drew the favoured island peg and fished at 16 metres with maggot for a winning 69.4.0 of carp.
Despite smashing the top section of his pole trying to land a big carp, Nick Collier finished second with 66.3.0 of carp, taking most of his fish in the margins on meat.
Shaun Percy did enough with 49.4.0 on waggler and maggot to take third place.
The second match of the Predator Spring League was fished by 20 at Butler’s Hill, and it turned out to be fairly close with everyone catching and half the field returning around the 20lb mark.
Andy Benwell (Predator) took the honours with a net of carp going 37.0.0 on pellet at 16 metres down the edge.
Fishing meat on the inside, Dave Clarke weighed in 28.14.0 for second place, and third with 28.0.0 was Craig Partridge, who alternated between pellet and corn across to the island.
MATCHMEN should note that at Panshill, you do not have to pay any peg fees on the Wednesday Open matches, just £15 pools, which are paid out at the end of the match.
They are holding a Bank Holiday Monday Open next week, drawing at 9am.
