BOSS Chris Wilder has told sceptics not to write off Oxford United's play-off chances just yet.
The U's manager believes nothing much has altered following the midweek 0-0 draw at York – except that Oxford now have to win all four remaining Blue Square Premier games, starting with Wrexham at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow.
“Nothing's changed, we still think we can do it,” he said.
“We've got a big weekend and we know we have to win these next two games, against Wrexham and Woking.
“Looking at who the other teams have got to play, I think they're going to get around the 78-79 points mark, and we can get to 80 by winning these four.
“Yes, if we don't win on Saturday that would be it, but I'd be very surprised if we took maximum points from our last four games and that was not enough.
“Cambridge and Burton have lost two on the bounce. Can they lose three on the bounce? We'll have to see.”
Another key game tomorrow see Histon at Burton, who then travel to Kidderminster on Monday before taking on Oxford in a week's time.
Centre back Luke Foster rolled his ankle at KitKat Crescent, but should be fit for United's two Easter games, when Wilder might slightly rotate his midfielders and strikers.
Craig Farrell comes back into contention after being unavailable at York, where Wilder felt they just didn't have enough options on the bench to change the match.
“I looked at the bench on Tuesday night and it was pretty lightweight to be honest,” he said.
“Certainly compared to someone like Cambridge, who have three subs who you know are capable of coming on and changing the match.
“We only had Yemi (Odubade) to come on, which wasn't enough.”
Wilder knows United will need to be back to their very best if they are to have a chance, but their home record since he took over is little short of sensational – eight wins out of nine – and a lot of chances are being created.
“We've got to bring our big game to the table in the next three or four games, but there's plenty of incentive for us to win all four,” he said.
“There's some great games coming up and it's still very exciting.”
