OUT-of-favour midfielder Joe Burnell is on trial at League Two Exeter City in a bid to get fixed up at another club.
The former Bristol City and Northampton midfielder, who has another year to run on his contract at Oxford, has been told by Chris Wilder that he does not feature in his future plans.
Burnell played for Exeter's reserves this week and Wilder said: “He would be allowed to play in two reserve games – that's normal procedure in this kind of situation.
“Joe's not part of my plans. I was honest with him when I came in. We've said to him he needs to get himself fixed up for next season and so he's had a go at doing that.
“The boy wants to play football and he isn't going to play football here.”
