Oxford B knocked out Eynsham B 7-3 on aggregate in the Inter Area Cup first round, writes PETE EWINS.
The first leg at the Red Lion, Cassington, saw Oxford establish a 3-2 lead, before they clinched victory by taking the home leg 4-1 at the Masons.
Geoff Powell beat Dave Barnes 6,740-3,440 to give Eynsham the lead in the first leg. Chris Webb (8,630, break 8,610) and Andy Webb (5,020) then put Oxford 2-1 in front, before Keith Hollis (6,780) made it 2-2.
In the decider, Alan Lacey gave Oxford the edge with a 8,210-530 win over Pete Soanes.
Young Chris Webb, who knocked up 20,810 in the opening game, was the man of the match in the second leg.
He was well supported by Barnes (4,270), Brian Rose (5750) and Lacey (10,740).
Andy Webb lost a winning break in the last game, which let in Colin Winstone (4,260) to prevent a whitewash.
In the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford & District League's Scotland Ash Cup semi-final, Vikings staged a brilliant fightback to knock out favourites Horse & Harrow 3-2.
Played on a tricky Headington Conservative Club table, Harrow went into a 2-0 lead with wins by John Scoones and Ian Moquet.
Vikings’ Ian Moss (7,280) then beat Gary Johnson, before Bob Allsworth claimed the scalp of Maxi McDonnell 3,260-1,560 to square the match.
In a nerve racking last game, Lacey pipped Paul Lawson 2,870-2,190 after Lawson lost a break of 800.
Berinsfield Club reached the final of the Scotland Ash Cup Plate after winning the opening three games against Gladiators B at the Shelley.
Sandra Tebby (2,210), Craig Mace and Geoff Mace (4,280) were their winners.
Berinsfield will now face Didcot Conservative Club, who defeated Gladiators A 4-1 at the Masons.
Jenny Abbott set them on the way by winning the first game against Bert Lovegrove.
She was well supported by Sue Atkins (4,040), Dave Tooke (4,530) and Dennis Atkins, who racked up 13,270.
Frank Cox prevented a whitewash by scoring 7,240 in the last.
Nelson swept into the Three's competition final after winning 4-2 against Masons at the Democrats.
Alan Lowe won both of his games for Democrats, but it wasn’t enough as Mark Trafford (8,170 and 9,490) and Keith Sheard (7,690 and 8,830) won both their games to clinch victory.
