Oxford's youngsters proved too strong for a spirited Harwell side as they ran out 43-12 winners in the BB&O Premier Division.

Defeat for Harwell means their final day clash with Gosford All Blacks could see the losers go down.

Harwell started strongly with an early try from full back Tom Nicholas as their forwards unsettled Oxford.

The hosts rallied with Jamie Kirkcaldy plunging over from close range and Adam Thompson converting.

A try from Stuart Waknell put Oxford 12-5 up at the break.

Harwell began the second half brightly and Ben Lacy’s try evened things up at 12-12.

This stunned Oxford into action, with Thompson creating and converting Yosuke Kikuma’s try.

Kirkcaldy added his second, with Thompson converting, then Kikuma finished a fine move for his brace.

Lock Charlie Mason and wing Phil Longuet-Higgins completed the try-scoring, with Thompson converting the latter.

Gosford All Blacks became the only team to score three tries against leaders Newbury Stags this season despite losing 54-15.

Drew Mansbridge ran in Newbury’s first try, but Gosford wing Chip Jefferies equalised.

Sam Viney, Steve Denner, Michael Byrne and Phil Simmonds added to Stags’ try tally, with Darren Lynch converting one.

Gosford’s persistence was rewarded with a try for wing Tim Ellis, but Mansbridge’s second made it 37-10 at the break.

Tries from Simmonds, converted by Lynch, and Chris Clifford extended Stags’ lead before full back Murray Stewart created Gosford’s third for wing Robb Eynon.

Simmonds completed his hat-trick with Newbury’s final score.
